If you're anything like me or if your brain works in any way like mine, this is the hardest step of all . . .
There’s a scary place my brain goes when I have to start writing. Whether placing a pencil point to white paper or typing a graphic icon on a blank screen. Here begins the 1st letter on the 1st clean page of my 1st post for my 1st blog ever. Actually, my 1st to be 'published'.
I can vividly remember essay assignments in elementary school where I'd sit and sweat, for what felt were hours, putting lead to paper.
To dirty that pristine tablet, to dream up what may not be right, let alone make sense to anyone but me. Erasing often left a red-toned smear that sometimes led to torn paper- an expression of extreme insecurity to me, which meant starting over. This vicious cycle from childhood has left a lasting impact : sweat, start, smear . . . REPEAT.
Thanks to a man named Charles Babbage, known by some as the inventor of the computer, at least today my paper won't tear . . .

Today is not the day referenced as the 'today' from the last paragraph, as I'm completing this content five days later. Previously established work and life commitments have crowded my zone, in addition to a variation of the cycle I used to experience where now I'm facing my fear of the 'publish' button.
Another great techno-guru, Tim Burners-Lee, coined 'the world-wide web' in the early 90's. What a scary title for a really cool protocol he developed for serial publishing and discussions. Now we can share our thoughts, knowledge, and ideas, whether of high value or danger, on screen to the whole world with the simple push of the 'PUBLISH' button.
I will master that touch soon enough but like many experiences in life, the first time can be the most challenging. Here goes a very simple message to you for this first week in our educational blog called “The Utah SWEAT Spot”, a blog for Sports & Wellness Therapy”.

My professional position as the Nutrition & Therapy Director for Utah Sports and Wellness, with Dr. Michael Cerami (www.utahsportsandwellness.com), includes the role of knowledge-sharer for our team, with this blog as one medium for reaching you.
This first post shares our commitment at Utah Sports and Wellness to those of you who are looking to maximize your health, wellness and sports performance. We hope you will join us regularly to learn, exercise and grow your brain and your body effectively. We will explore four main topics each month by rotating weekly as we feature a specific area of interest or importance within the Spot of the Week. We will provide specificity for age, gender, fitness level and more, as topics and trends dictate, as well as respond to community growth.*
In closing for this week, my personal commitment to you and our growing community is to Stain Your Brain with SWEAT by providing mental workouts that leave lasting impressions. From there, you can choose to bleach, blend, or spread them for optimal health, wellness and sports performance.
Beginning September 2012 . . .
“The Utah SWEAT Spot” intends to post a new blog each week as follows:
